Why this exists
Most family history is lost not because nobody cared, but because the people who cared had nowhere durable to put it. A shoebox of photographs, a book in one relative's house, a memory that went unrecorded.
This is an attempt at somewhere durable: a place where a family's records, evidence, stories and memorials live together, stay private by default, and remain the family's own property.
What this product will not do
- Publish a living relative's details by default
- Let an automated suggestion change an authoritative record without a person approving it
- Present a guess as a fact — uncertain dates stay visibly uncertain
- Hold your genealogy hostage; export is always available
